FAQ

Q: How do I use PhotoGnome?

A: PhotoGnome lets you take hands-free photos — perfect for group shots, outfit pics, or just having fun with friends. Set your phone down or use a tripod, make sure you’re in the frame, and tap the shutter button. PhotoGnome will automatically take photos when it detects a face. Tap the shutter again to end the session and view your photos in the session gallery.

Q: How can I save my photos?

A: There are two ways to save your photos: to your camera roll, or as a full session in the app. In the gallery, select your favorite shots and tap “Save” to add them to your camera roll — great if you plan to edit or share them. You can also tap “Session” to save the full photo session within the app. Saved sessions are accessible through the Session History button on the main screen.

Q: When should I use PhotoGnome?

A: Anytime you want to take a hands-free photo of a person. It’s especially useful for group photos, headshots, or when you’re creating content and don’t have someone to hold the camera. I’m excited to see the creative ways people use PhotoGnome!

Q: Do you store any of my data?

A: No — and I feel strongly about this. Your photos are yours, period. The app asks for permission to access your camera roll only so it can save photos to it. We do not access, collect, or store any of your data. For more info, check out the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Q: Why does the app cost $0.99?

A: I miss when you could just buy an app. These days, most apps are free but collect tons of data or push you into a subscription. I don’t want to serve ads or harvest data, and I think subscriptions can be confusing. PhotoGnome is simple and straightforward, and I think $0.99 is a fair price. No ads, no tiers, no subscriptions — just give me a dollar.
